Senior Software Engineer

Overview This position provides complex technical support to data processing systems through enhancement of related software and processes. Develops software and procedures that improve processing capabilities. Analyzes, codes, tests, and implements in coordination with management, associates, and end users. Serves as production system support by resolving issues and ensuring ongoing functionality. May oversee the work of less experienced analysts or assist in special projects as needed. Responsibilities & Qualifications Duties & Responsibilities: System Enhancement - Performs a variety of actions that evaluate and improve department systems, processes, and applications. Utilizes programming specifications to construct modules, develop testing methods, and design materials. Provides new feature time estimates for system changes and assists in implementing modifications. Executes test plans to validate application functions as designed. Analysis - Collects data related to user requests and determines scope, time estimates, and system impacts. Inspects business specifications, programming specifications, coding, test plans, documentation, and implementation plans for accuracy. Business Support - Provides technical support to production systems by addressing reported issues, anticipating maintenance requirements, and ensuring functionality for end user needs. Drafts documentation to be used for system, end user, and operational purposes, including technical specifications and application designs. Technical Expertise - Responsible for complex involvement in the software development life cycle including the creation, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation of software. Serves as a technical resource for management, associates, and business units. On-call Support - Provides 24/7 on-call support via rotations. Position Specific Skills Advanced experience with programming languages such as Microsoft .NET (C#); ASP.NET Core; JavaScript; HTML 5; XML; SQL Scripting and Powershell Scripting Advanced experience with Microsft Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar code repository system Advanced experience with ServiceNow or other information technology ticketing system Ability to build strong collaborative and productive relationships In-depth knowledge of System Life Cycle Development methodology (Waterfall and Agile) Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on a rotating basis Qualifications Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 4 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 8 years' experience in Software application development and maintenance Preferred Education:Bachelor Degree Preferred Area of Study:Computer Science Preferred Area of Experience:MS.NET; ASP.NET; SQL Scripting; Powershell Scripting Required Licenses Or Certifications Preferred Licenses or Certifications: Additional Information Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance Preferred Skills 8-10 years of hands on experience with Java/J2EE environmentExcellent ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong design & development experience with JEE & Enterprise Technologies: JMS, JDBC, Web development, Transactions, WS-*, JVM, JSP, Servlets, EJB, JNDI, JMX, JTA, Spring, JUnit, Hibernate.Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience building SpringBoot Microservices.Experience building applications using container architecture with Kubernetes orchestration.Preferred experience on public API development and using API Gateway like APIGEE.In-depth understanding of JavaScript, including ES6+ features, Loopback, closures and asynchronous programmingWorked on Agile projects and has complete knowledge of day to day Agile routines.Proven experience in building user interfaces with React.jsFamiliarity with state management libraries like Redux or MobXUnderstanding of the React component lifecycle and its best practicesExperience with testing frameworks like Jest or MochaAbility to interact with REST APIs and handle data fetching and manipulationProficient in using GITLAB for version controlExperience with Jira, Confluence and ORACLE Database systemsUnderstanding of basic UI/UX design principlesPrior experience with regulated financial organization is a plus Benefits are an integral part of total rewards and First Citizens Bank is committed to providing a competitive, thoughtfully designed and quality benefits program to meet the needs of our associates.
