What You’ll Do: A Day in the Life of a Web Engineer
This is a hands-on individual contributor role for an experienced web engineer who can combine deep technical expertise with strong technical leadership.
You'll collaborate with a team of 5–7 engineers using rapid agile development to advance Gerber Life's digital sales and servicing capabilities across direct-to-consumer (DTC) and agency distribution channels.
The technology supports significant scale—including approximately 1.5 million captured leads and 750,000 submitted insurance applications annually, along with digital servicing capabilities supporting approximately 2.5 million unique policyholders.

Drive hands-on web development supporting digital life insurance sales and servicingExecute e-commerce roadmaps across DTC and agency distribution channelsModernize legacy applications supporting both internal Contact Center associates and customer self-serviceCollaborate with engineers to rapidly deliver incremental web enhancementsManage product and sprint backlogs to keep development moving forwardHelp accelerate delivery through effective use of people, processes and technologyEstimate and prioritize new software development workProvide technical leadership and direction to engineering team membersContribute to recruiting, coaching and developing engineering talentChampion agile development, innovation and continuous improvementEnsure adherence to data security, regulatory and technology standards
Your Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Significant agile web engineering and software change-management experienceExperience providing technical leadership within a web engineering environmentExperience with life insurance DTC and agency digital distributionExperience delivering large-scale, public-facing e-commerce applicationsStrong understanding of Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum, LeSS, Lean, XP, Kanban, FDD and BDDExperience with API and UI test automation and tools such as Cucumber and JIRAAbility to simplify complex, large-scale technology needs while considering total cost of ownershipStrong agile mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous integrationAbility to work autonomously while building strong relationships across technical and business teamsMaster's degree in Computer Science, or an acceptable combination of education, technical training, certifications and extensive relevant experience
