Summary At X&, we're hiring a Designer / Design Engineer (Japan) to own the visual and interaction design of Sanbo — and ship those designs in production React. You'll work directly with PMs and engineers to deliver polished, intuitive experiences used daily by investment professionals at Japan's top financial institutions. Editorial polish for institutional finance, with full ownership of the Sanbo design direction and system. About X& And Sanbo X& is a financial institution headquartered in Tokyo. We're design-first — we believe complex financial workflows should feel effortless. Sanbo is used daily by investment professionals at Japan's top financial institutions, and we're looking for a designer who can not only craft beautiful interfaces but also bring them to life in code. The Role As our Designer / Design Engineer, you'll own the visual and interaction design of Sanbo's product, and be able to implement your designs in production code. You'll work directly with PMs and engineers to ship polished, intuitive experiences for our Japan market. What You'll Do Design and iterate on product UI in Figma — from wireframes to polished componentsImplement designs in React/TypeScript to production qualityMaintain and extend the Sanbo design system (tokens, components, patterns)Run user research and usability testing with Japan clientsCollaborate with Forward Deployment Engineers to adapt Sanbo for enterprise client environmentsLocalize designs and interactions for the Japan market (typography, layouts, data density) Requirements 3+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolioProficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, variables/tokens)Ability to implement designs in React/TypeScript (at least at component level)Strong systems thinking — design at scale with consistencyFluent Japanese — able to understand Japan UX conventions and client feedback Nice to Have Experience designing data-dense dashboards or financial toolsFamiliarity with CSS, Tailwind, or CSS-in-JSMotion / interaction design experience What We Offer Competitive salary + equityOn-site at our Tokyo Roppongi officeFull ownership of Sanbo's design direction and system How to Apply Send your CV/resume and portfolio to jobs@xand.vc with the subject line "Designer / Design Engineer (Japan)".
