About the Role Eton Solution is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to support a global enterprise client in building and operating reliable, scalable, and business-critical software platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an engineer with strong distributed-systems expertise and a passion for operational excellence. In addition to designing and delivering software, you will help engineering teams improve service reliability, observability, deployment safety, incident response, and production readiness. The ideal candidate brings experience from a mature, large-scale engineering environment and can influence teams through technical judgment, data, collaboration, and hands-on execution. Responsibilities Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain scalable distributed systems.Lead operational-excellence initiatives across multiple engineering teams and locations.Improve service reliability, availability, observability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.Establish practical standards for monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards, and production readiness.Lead root-cause analyses and drive corrective actions that address systemic issues.Reduce operational toil and recurring incidents through automation and improved system design.Define and track service-level indicators, service-level objectives, and engineering health metrics.Partner with architects, engineering managers, product managers, and engineers to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.Influence technical decisions through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and hands-on implementation.Improve automated testing, deployment safety, rollback readiness, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.Mentor engineers and strengthen ownership of quality and production health.Help teams balance feature delivery with reliability and technical-debt investments.Support production systems and improve the effectiveness of incident-response and on-call practices.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.8+ years of professional software-development experience.Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems using AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar technologies.2+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new or existing systems.Demonstrated experience improving the operational health of production services.Experience with observability, incident management, root-cause analysis, automated testing, and safe deployment practices.Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority.Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications Senior engineering experience at Amazon, Microsoft, or another organization known for operating large-scale technology platforms.Experience with business-critical, regulated, healthcare, financial, or enterprise systems.Experience with containerized microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless computing, analytics, or large-scale data systems.Knowledge of resilience patterns, fault isolation, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.Experience creating operational scorecards, service maturity models, or engineering standards.Experience working with geographically distributed teams.Experience working directly with enterprise clients or end users.Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Why Join Us Work on high-impact software used in complex enterprise environments.Lead operational improvements across multiple engineering teams.Combine hands-on engineering with broad technical influence.Collaborate with experienced engineering and product leaders.Help establish practices that improve reliability, customer experience, and long-term engineering effectiveness.
