Overview The Lead Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure plays a critical role in advancing the design, implementation, and evolution of secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure across Planet Fitness’s cloud environments. As a senior member of the team, this individual will drive platform initiatives, contribute to strategic planning, and ensure alignment with business goals. Responsibilities include supporting weekly team coordination, leveraging the existing roadmap to guide priorities, and developing KPIs to measure platform performance and impact. This role requires deep technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive mindset to deliver reliable and efficient platform solutions. This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or Boston, MA office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with the Director, IT Infrastructure & Cloud to execute the IT vision for Planet FitnessDrive platform engineering projects from planning through execution and deliverySupport weekly team meetings to review work progress, remove blockers, and align prioritiesBuild and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, with contributions to Azure and other platformsOwn and evolve the internal developer platform service catalogDevelop and maintain infrastructure-as-codeGuide Kubernetes (EKS) operations including deployment strategies and scalingImprove CI/CD pipelines and developer enablement toolingDefine and track KPIs for platform performance, reliability, and developer productivityUse existing platform roadmap and build a forward-looking roadmap aligned with business goalsCollaborate with app/dev, data, and InfoSec teams to align platform capabilities with business needsEnsure compliance with security guidelines and vulnerability remediation SLAsDocument systems, workflows, and architecture for transparency and knowledge sharingContribute to Agile practices including sprint planning, retrospectives, and iterative deliveryMonitor and troubleshoot systems using tools such as Datadog and PagerDutyDrive team projects including support and access requests, threat modeling sessions, and on-call rotationFoster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence. The salary for NH-based and MA-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below. This is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with a candidate’s professional experience, qualifications and internal equity.
