As a Firmware Engineer, you will develop embedded applications, engineering tools, and integrated hardware/software products while contributing across the full product lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, release, and ongoing support.
You’ll build Windows‑based software, support device communications, and work hands‑on with tightly integrated hardware/software systems using a strong embedded systems background and Microsoft development technologies.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, development, prototyping, testing, and verification of embedded firmware and software applications for fire, security, and related life‑safety products.Create and support Windows‑based applications, configuration utilities, diagnostic tools, test applications, and engineering tools.Write high‑quality software using C, C#, .NET, and other appropriate programming languages and development environments.Design and implement communications between embedded devices, PCs, networks, and other connected systems.Develop, maintain, and refine software and product requirements along with supporting project documentation.Develop, maintain, and refine software and product requirements along with supporting project documentation.Engage in code and design reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to engineering best practices.Support customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders with technical expertise and problem resolution.Contribute to other engineering responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring
Experience That Drives Success
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.3+ years developing C#, ASP.NET, and Windows desktop applications.3+ years of embedded software development experience.Hands‑on C programming for real‑time embedded systems across 8‑, 16‑, and 32‑bit environments.Solid understanding of embedded operating system concepts and RTOS environments.Experience developing applications with tight timing constraints.Knowledge of common protocols and interfaces, including TCP/IP and UDP.Familiarity with in‑circuit emulators for embedded debugging.Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, including hardware, software, and networking.
(preferred)Background working in, or understanding of, Agile/Scrum development environments.
(preferred)Comfortable using project‑management and issue‑tracking tools (team uses Jira, prior experience not required).
