Description
Perform code reviews for members of the team, bearing a sense of responsibility for approved code
Anticipate and mitigate risk on projects

Lead technical direction across AIX’s product, platform, and impact-measurement work, and represent AIX’s tooling and impact findings to senior engineering leadership
Effectively communicate with stakeholders on project progress
Rotate onto other product Squads on demand to provide burst capacity or specialized skillsets when teams need extra support
Actively participate in daily stand-ups and other scrum ceremonies
Coach and mentor teammates in an open, respectful, flexible, empathetic manner.

Basic Qualifications:
BS, BA, or advanced degree in computer science/engineering or related field
5+ years hands-on professional experience with software development
1+ years of related experience crafting and operating large-scale, high-availability backend services
1+ years of experience operating within a Public Cloud Provider (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Comprehensive knowledge of Java, Spring, and Server-Side Technologies
Demonstrated knowledge crafting and operating JVM services
Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented programming patterns
Demonstrated knowledge of source control systems and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with observability tools for metrics, logging, and monitoring (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Grafana)
Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as the larger engineering organization
Demonstrated knowledge of AGILE/Scrum practices
Skilled at work breakdown and task estimation
Proven track record of designing and driving consensus on software architecture
Strong communication skills and a desire to share your knowledge with team members and others across Disney technology teams
Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of your daily engineering workflow, with the ability to speak to their impact on velocity and code quality
Experience integrating with or building on top of LLM/GenAI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock) to deliver product or platform capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience on a significant consumer-facing product that is currently available
1+ years of related experience utilizing caching technologies
Demonstrated knowledge of asynchronous programming
Demonstrated knowledge of functional programming patterns
Experience designing and building analytics or dashboard applications for a senior leadership or executive audience
Familiarity with DORA metrics and other engineering performance frameworks
Experience evangelizing new tools, technologies, or practices across an engineering organization
Familiarity with measuring and communicating the ROI or impact of tooling and process changes
Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, vector databases, and embeddings
Experience with agentic or multi-step AI workflows
