Highlights

Hands-on senior engineering role working on secure financial technology systems with ownership of architecture and implementation.

Description

About the company: CoinPayments is the first and leading crypto payment processor worldwide. With over 1 million users and more than 120,000 registered merchants in over 190 countries, CoinPayments has become one of the most widely used multi-crypto payment systems available online. Since 2013, we have developed a complete crypto payment gateway that allows merchants to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies and hold over 2,000+ altcoins, all on a single platform. About the role: We are looking for a strong hands-on backend engineer to help evolve a production crypto payments platform. Our systems handle real blockchain transactions and money movement. Correctness, resilience, security, and safe delivery have direct consequences for customers and their funds. This is not a pure management role or an “architecture from a distance” position. You will design solutions, write and review production code, investigate incidents, and lead technical improvements through implementation. We are looking for someone who proactively identifies problems and opportunities, proposes pragmatic solutions, and takes ownership of delivering them. The expected balance is approximately 70% hands-on engineering and 30% technical leadership. The role has no line-management responsibilities. What you will do: Design and implement backend services and critical crypto payment flows using C# and modern .NET.Initially take ownership of selected critical backend areas, with an expected path toward platform-wide technical ownership.Investigate production issues and improve observability using logs, metrics, traces, and business data.Turn recurring manual operational work into reliable automation, actionable signals, and concise reports.Identify and classify technical debt and reliability risks, then work with engineering and product leadership to prioritize them by business impact.Improve complex and legacy areas incrementally, supported by appropriate tests and safe rollout strategies.Lead technical decisions, review designs and code, and help other engineers improve through practical guidance. We expect thoughtful use of modern tooling, including AI-assisted analysis and automation where it provides measurable value. We do not treat AI as a substitute for engineering judgment. What we are looking for Strong hands-on experience building and operating production systems with C# and modern .NET.Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, consistency, idempotency, and failure handling.Production experience with relational databases, caching, asynchronous processing, and service integrations.Experience deploying and operating production services in AWS and Kubernetes.Ability to diagnose problems across application, domain, persistence, and integration boundaries.Experience working with production logs, metrics, traces, and incident investigation.Sound security judgment for systems that handle money, credentials, and sensitive customer data.A pragmatic approach to legacy code: understand, measure, isolate, test, and improve rather than rewrite by default.Practical understanding of modern AI capabilities and limitations, without treating it as either magic or something to reject by default.Clear communication skills and professional working proficiency in English. Relevant technologies Our stack includes C#, modern .NET, ASP.NET Core, Microsoft Orleans, Entity Framework Core, MySQL, Redis, gRPC, AWS, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and blockchain integrations. Direct experience with every technology is not required. The ability to understand unfamiliar production systems and improve them safely is more important. Nice to have Experience with crypto payments, blockchain infrastructure, fintech, or other high-integrity systems.Understanding of blockchain transactions, confirmations, reorganizations, node integrations, or wallet infrastructure.Experience improving observability or automating production operations.Production experience with Go, Node.js, or another backend ecosystem beyond .NET.Previous technical leadership across multiple services or teams. What success looks like During your first months, you will: Understand at least one critical crypto payment flow end to end.Ship meaningful production changes in that area.Reduce a recurring operational or reliability problem through engineering and automation.Become a trusted technical owner during design discussions and production investigations, with a path toward platform-wide ownership within 6–12 months. What we offer A senior role with real technical ownership and influence.A balance of hands-on engineering and technical leadership.Direct work on production crypto payment systems with meaningful engineering challenges. The ability to improve architecture and engineering practices through implementation.Direct collaboration with engineering, product, and company leadership.Remote work within GMT+0 to GMT+4.
