Our teams operate at the intersection of business strategy, technology, and data to help our clients drive smarter decisions, reduce risks, and stay ahead in a fast-evolving market environment. About the Role: We are seeking a hands-on Senior Full Stack Data Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex data products supporting Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk Analytics, and other front-office investment teams. This role combines full stack development, data engineering, technical architecture, and engineering leadership. The successful candidate will work across the complete data lifecycle—from source ingestion and transformation through database design, curated data products, APIs, and modern React-based user experiences. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with Python, SQL, React, APIs, cloud-based data platforms, and investment-management data, along with the ability to make architectural decisions, establish engineering patterns, review technical designs and code, and provide direction to other engineers. This is a hands-on technical leadership role rather than a purely managerial position. The successful candidate will remain deeply involved in design and development while helping improve the quality, effectiveness, and delivery capabilities of the broader engineering team. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of front-office data products spanning data ingestion, transformation, database design, APIs, and React-based user experiences.Build and enhance scalable data pipelines for critical investment data sources, including high-volume and near-real-time datasets where required.Design scalable database structures and data models spanning source-aligned data through curated, consumption-ready datasets.Own data products covering positions and holdings, transactions and investment activity, security and instrument master data, pricing and valuations, market data, reference data, accounts and portfolios, and related risk and analytics data.Define how investment data domains connect to create coherent, trusted data products for Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk professionals, and other front-office users.Design and develop REST and/or GraphQL APIs and data-access patterns supporting applications, analytics workflows, and AI-enabled solutions.Build and guide the development of React-based applications that allow investment professionals to explore, validate, and interact with complex data.Partner directly with Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, Data, and other stakeholders to translate complex business workflows into scalable technical solutions.Own technical design decisions including data models, integration approaches, API contracts, performance considerations, and user-experience patterns.Break complex initiatives into clearly defined engineering workstreams and coordinate execution across multiple engineers.Provide technical guidance, mentoring, code reviews, and design feedback to engineers across the team.Establish and reinforce engineering standards covering code quality, testing, observability, documentation, reliability, performance, and maintainability.Identify and resolve complex issues involving data quality, reconciliation, pipeline performance, query optimization, data lineage, API performance, and front-end usability.Lead end-to-end troubleshooting of production issues spanning source systems, pipelines, databases, APIs, and end-user applications.Leverage modern AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate software development, testing, debugging, documentation, data analysis, and solution design.Identify opportunities to incorporate AI assistants, agents, and natural-language workflows into the way users interact with trusted investment data. Required Skills and Experience: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant hands-on experience across backend/data engineering and front-end development.Demonstrated experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or Senior Engineer responsible for providing technical direction to other developers.Strong programming skills in Python, with experience building production-grade data pipelines, services, and applications.Strong experience developing modern web applications using React and JavaScript/TypeScript.Expert-level SQL skills with strong experience designing, querying, and optimizing relational and analytical database structures.Deep experience building complex data pipelines involving ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and delivery of large-scale datasets.Strong experience designing and developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs.Experience with cloud-based data environments and modern analytical warehouses; Azure and Snowflake are strongly preferred.Strong understanding of the complete data lifecycle from source ingestion and transformation through storage, curated data products, APIs, applications, analytics, and AI consumption.Proven ability to make architectural and implementation decisions across data, backend, API, and front-end layers.Experience reviewing technical designs and code produced by other engineers and driving improvements in quality, performance, and maintainability.Experience leading complex engineering initiatives from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.Significant experience within asset management, investment management, capital markets, or a similarly complex financial-data environment.Strong knowledge of front-office investment data domains including positions/holdings, transactions, pricing, market data, security master, reference data, account and portfolio data, and risk/analytics data.Ability to understand how investment data domains interact and how they support Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk professionals, and investment analytics users.Strong experience using modern AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with both engineering teams and front-office stakeholders.Ability to operate effectively in a high-expectation environment with significant ownership of production systems and delivery outcomes. Engineering Leadership Expectations: Provide technical direction to engineers working across related data and application initiatives.Define solution architecture and implementation approaches before development begins.Break larger initiatives into clearly defined engineering deliverables and coordinate execution across engineers.Review code, technical designs, database models, API contracts, and implementation decisions.Mentor engineers and improve their technical judgment and understanding of investment data.Identify technical risks, dependencies, and delivery issues early and drive them toward resolution.Partner with engineering and product leadership on prioritization, sequencing, architecture, and technical tradeoffs.Establish reusable engineering patterns and improve development standards and documentation.Raise the overall engineering bar across code quality, performance, reliability, maintainability, and development practices.Remain personally accountable for critical implementation work rather than operating exclusively as a reviewer or coordinator.
