Within ABN AMRO's Non-Financial Risk Grid, we are looking for a Senior Azure Data & DevOps Engineer who can help shape the next generation of data-driven risk applications on Azure. A significant focus of this role is the design, development, and optimisation of data platforms and data pipelines that support critical Market Abuse Monitoring processes. You will combine hands-on data engineering with technical leadership, helping teams adopt modern Azure, DevOps, and Data Engineering practices while driving standardisation across a diverse application landscape. Your job As an Senior Azure Data & DevOps Engineer, you are more than an engineer. You are a technical leader who helps the department strengthen its Azure cloud, DevOps, and Data Engineering capabilities. You will: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions on Microsoft Azure.Build and optimise data processing workflows using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Python, and PySpark.Support the ongoing development and enhancement of data streams used for Market Abuse Monitoring and other Non-Financial Risk processes.Drive standardisation of Azure DevOps pipelines, deployment processes, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices across multiple teams.Improve CI/CD processes to increase reliability, security, and delivery speed for both applications and data platforms.Design and implement integrations between applications, databases, and cloud-based data platforms.Define technical standards and best practices for Azure engineering and data development.Coach colleagues and support teams in adopting modern DataOps, DevOps, and cloud engineering principles.Identify improvement opportunities within the data landscape and proactively drive implementation. Working environment You will join the Non-Financial Risk Grid, where a wide range of applications and data platforms support critical risk processes across the bank. A growing part of the landscape focuses on the collection, transformation, enrichment, and analysis of data used for Market Abuse Monitoring. As data volumes and business requirements continue to grow, we are investing heavily in scalable Azure-based data solutions and modern engineering practices. Within the grid, one chapter has already achieved a high level of DevOps maturity, with extensive automation, streamlined deployments, and robust CI/CD processes. One of your key responsibilities will be helping the wider organisation achieve the same level of maturity while also strengthening our Data Engineering capabilities and establishing common standards across teams. You will be part of an international DevOps team where collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement are highly valued. We work in Scrum teams with two-week sprints and embrace a hybrid working model, with team members typically meeting at our Amsterdam-area office twice per week. Your profile We are looking for a senior engineer who combines strong Data Engineering expertise with a DevOps mindset and technical leadership. You: Have a strong foundation in Data Engineering and enjoy building robust, scalable, and maintainable data solutions.Possess a DevOps mindset and strongly believe in automation, standardisation, and continuous improvement.Have experience working with large and complex datasets in business-critical environments.Can define and communicate a clear technical vision for both application and data platforms.Proactively identify weaknesses in processes, platforms, and solutions and take ownership of improvements.Bring people together and help teams adopt common standards and best practices.Enjoy coaching and mentoring colleagues.Balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership.Are comfortable operating in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and applications. Required Experience To be successful in this role, you bring experience in several of the following areas:Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and enterprise-scale data integration solutions.Strong experience developing data processing solutions using Python and PySpark.Experience with Azure Databricks and modern cloud-based data platforms.Experience designing, building, and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines.Experience working with data streaming, transformation, enrichment, and monitoring processes.Solid experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.Strong experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation.Proven experience driving standardisation and engineering best practices across teams.Experience designing and implementing integrations between applications and data platforms.Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates.Knowledge of Azure security, governance, and networking concepts.Experience with Azure services such as App Services, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, and Application Gateway.Experience with authentication and SSO solutions (OpenID Connect and SAML).Experience within financial services, transaction monitoring, surveillance, or risk domains is considered a strong plus.
