Senior Full Stack PHP / Symfony Software Developer Term: Full-time / Direct Hire Work Environment: 100% Remote Visa Status: US Citizen, Green Card, TN Visa Our client is a rapidly growing technology company building software solutions for the Clinical Trials and Medical Meetings industries, serving clients across 67 countries worldwide. They are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack PHP / Symfony Software Developer to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on role for a seasoned backend engineer with deep PHP and Symfony expertise, strong Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals, and a track record of building, maintaining, and improving complex production applications. You’ll work across an established suite of interconnected products, developing new functionality while helping us modernize and improve our existing platform. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers and technical leadership in an Agile, Scrum, and test-driven development environment. This position is 100% remote within the United States. What You'll Work On Our software supports critical workflows across clinical trials and medical meetings, including: Meeting itinerary planning, scheduling, and trackingEvent, content, and speaker managementInvitations, email, and marketing campaignsVendor payments and expense trackingCommunication among clinical-trial patients, caregivers, and pharmaceutical organizationsClinical-trial compliance and governance What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using PHP and SymfonyWrite clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-tested Object-Oriented codeBuild new functionality supported by meaningful automated unit and integration testsDevelop and maintain PHP modules, services, RESTful APIs, and third-party integrationsAnalyze business and application requirements and translate them into effective technical solutionsTroubleshoot complex application, integration, database, and production issuesImprove the performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability of existing applicationsCollaborate with Senior Engineers and technical leadership on application design and complex development challengesContribute to the ongoing modernization of our applications and development practicesParticipate actively in Agile/Scrum planning, estimation, and technical discussionsTake ownership of assigned work from analysis through development, testing, and completionWhat We're Looking For 8-10 years of professional PHP development experience3-5 years of professional Symfony development experienceDeep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software design principlesStrong knowledge of modern PHP application architecture and development practicesProfessional experience with MongoDBStrong command-line Git skills, including branching, merging, conflict resolution, rebasing, reverting, stashing, and cherry-pickingStrong experience with PHPUnit and automated testingExperience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and third-party integrationsWorking knowledge of Linux, Nginx, Bash, permissions, cron jobs, and related application/server operationsExperience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environmentStrong database, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityAbility to work independently and collaborate effectively in a distributed engineering teamNice to Have Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceExperience with ComposerExperience with Docker and containerized environmentsKnowledge of MongoDB scaling and shardingExperience with React or other modern JavaScript frameworksFamiliarity with AWS and CI/CD pipelinesExperience modernizing or refactoring mature production applicationsExperience developing software for healthcare, clinical trials, life sciences, pharmaceutical technology, or another regulated industry
