About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join Palantir's Substrate team, responsible for the company's core production infrastructure. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Palantir's managed Kubernetes (K8s) offerings across diverse environments, including on-premises data centers, cloud hyperscalers, and edge devices. The ideal candidate will have a passion for infrastructure at scale, a deep understanding of container orchestration, and a drive to innovate in cloud-native environments. As a key member of the team, you will work on automating the deployment, scaling, and security of thousands of K8s clusters, ensuring they operate seamlessly with minimal manual intervention. Your expertise will contribute to building industry-leading tooling, making upstream contributions to CNCF projects, and shaping the future of Palantir's infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence large-scale systems, improve operational stability, and drive technological innovation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development, focusing on core infrastructure and operational excellence.At least 2 years of experience in system design or architecture, including designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.Proficiency in systems programming languages such as Go, C/C++, or similar.Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Kubernetes operators.Strong coding skills in Go, Java, or equivalent languages for automation and scripting tasks.Deep understanding of hardware configurations, OS tuning, networking fundamentals, and diagnostic tooling.Experience working with containers (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) at scale.Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, or experience in data center operations.Experience designing and operating high-scale observability and infrastructure systems.Working knowledge of networking concepts, including CNIs and cloud networking infrastructure. Responsibilities Develop and deliver container runtime solutions tailored to complex environments, including new cloud platforms, on-premises infrastructure, and edge devices.Automate deployment and operational processes to enable secure, scalable, and zero-manual intervention Kubernetes environments.Drive innovation by adopting and contributing to CNCF projects and integrating new features into Palantir's infrastructure.Design the next generation of Palantir's infrastructure by leveraging deep insights into internal systems and industry standards.Maintain high standards of security, stability, and scalability across diverse hosting environments while ensuring compliance with regulatory regimes.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex infrastructure issues proactively.Contribute to open-source projects and industry standards to influence the broader Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystem.Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure reliable operation of infrastructure systems at scale.
