CHDI is responsible for data collection and data warehousing for several major systems, including the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) and the All-Payer Database (APD). The SPARCS system has been in operations since 1982, collecting data from 400+ facilities, bringing in 40+ million discharge-level transactions a year, and warehouses 40+ calendar years of data. The All-Payer Database (APD) system has been in operations since 2018, collecting data from 80+ insurers, bringing in 800+ million claim-level transactions a year and warehouses at present 7 calendar years of data. The data content integrity and operations of these systems is critical to the day-to-day operations and management of health care facilities, health care programs, public and private health insurance products; and research on health care services, outcomes, and cost.
