Job Purpose
The Kubernetes Platform Engineering (KPE) team builds and operates ICE's internal container orchestration platform powered by Red Hat OpenShift.
KPE Features, the Solutions Engineering sub-team, serves as the primary interface between the platform and its consumers across ICE's various business units.
We are looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to join KPE Features.
In this role, you will own and drive platform capabilities that enable development teams to deploy and operate workloads at enterprise scale.
You’ll work across the full platform stack from GitOps pipelines and policy enforcement to observability infrastructure, while providing technical leadership and mentorship to others on the team.
Responsibilities
Own and deliver platform features and enhancements, driving work from design through deployment and documentationLead onboarding of new teams and workloads onto the platform via self-service and GitOps-based provisioning workflowsMaintain and evolve ArgoCD-based GitOps pipelines and Kustomize overlay configurations across multiple clustersImplement and tune Kyverno admission control policies to enforce security and operational standards across the platformBuild and maintain observability tooling, including Grafana dashboards, Tempo distributed tracing, and alertingCollaborate with KPE-Infrastructure and KPE-Enablement sub-teams on cluster lifecycle events, upgrades, and cross-cutting platform concernsEngage with platform consumers and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutionsOwn and maintain platform documentation, runbooks, and internal knowledge bases on ConfluenceParticipate in 2nd or 3rd level support for on-call rotation
Knowledge And Experience
6+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or a related disciplineHands-on experience with Kubernetes in a production environment; OpenShift experience strongly preferredExperience with Kubernetes configuration and templating tools such as Kustomize or HelmComfort operating in Linux environments and working with YAML-heavy configuration managementStrong communication skills.

New York Base Salary Range
The expected base salary for this role, if located in New York, is between $149,400 – $180,000 USD.
The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange’s incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual.
