Simple is looking for an Analytics Engineer to become the owner of our finance data.
This is a hands-on role with clear ownership of the finance data domain.
You’ll bring data together from different sources, improve its quality, run reconciliation, and help keep our financial models reliable.
You won’t be working on this alone.
Payment analysts and data engineers will support you with domain knowledge and integrations, but we need someone who can take ownership of the area and make sure finance data is accurate, clear, and useful for the business.
A big part of the role is getting deep into the data: finding discrepancies, improving reliability, and making sure Finance and business teams can trust the numbers behind reporting and planning.
You’ll also help explain complex data issues in a practical way, so the team understands what is happening, why it matters, and what needs to be done.
This role would suit someone who enjoys autonomy, likes solving messy data problems, and wants to have a visible impact on how the business uses data.
What You'll Do
Care for the finance data domain end to end.
You'll be the person the company trusts on finance data;Develop, maintain, and improve data products for finance department (reports, alerts, automations, etc) including financial data models in Pigment using Python, Snowflake, Airflow, and dbt;Build and run continuous monitoring for data freshness, completeness, quality, and reconciliation breaks; investigate incidents and drive them to resolution;Develop LLM agents to accelerate analysis, tooling, documentation, and automation across the finance data stack.
What We're Looking For
You get real satisfaction from the moment a reconciliation finally ties out;You're equally happy with a quiet afternoon of investigation and a call where you defend your numbers to Finance leadership;Strong Python and SQL experience in a data engineering or analytics engineering role;Experience building data models with dbt;Commercial experience with real-world financial or payments data, and comfort designing systems that gracefully handle messy, duplicated, delayed, or inconsistent input;Experience owning reconciliation and/or data-quality processes, including monitoring and incident resolution;A strong ownership mindset.
