Hands-on customer-facing cloud security work, leadership of cloud security migrations, deployment at scale, and an initial six-month contract with potential extension.

Description

We are seeking Cortex Cloud consultants to work with Palo Alto Networks in Australia. You must hold Australia Permanent Resident and either be eligible for or already hold NV1/NV2 security Clearance. It is an initial 6 month contract with potential for extension. Cortex Cloud β€” Extended Expertise / Delivery Engineer Cloud Security Cloud Native Application Protection Β· Customer Delivery ABOUT THE ROLE You will deliver Palo Alto Networks cloud security solutions directly to customers β€” designing, deploying, and operationalising cloud native application protection across their cloud and container environments. The role is hands-on and customer-facing: you will lead migrations to Cortex Cloud, roll out posture and workload protection at scale, embed security into how customer engineering teams build software, and hand over a platform the customer can confidently run themselves. WHAT YOU'LL DO β€’ Lead migrations to Cortex Cloud. Take customers from Prisma Cloud to Cortex Cloud end to end β€” connecting their cloud accounts, deploying agents, configuring security policies, and building the dashboards their teams will use day to day. β€’ Deploy and engineer. Get hands-on rolling out cloud posture management and workload protection across customer environments in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. β€’ Embed security into how customers build. Work side by side with customer engineering and DevOps teams to build security scanning and automated guardrails directly into their development pipelines, so risk is caught early rather than found in production. β€’ Work as part of the delivery team. Take day-to-day direction from project managers, report progress clearly, and keep technical delivery aligned to the project schedule. Work with our Technical Assistance Center to investigate and resolve support cases. β€’ Hand over cleanly. Deliver structured knowledge transfer and full "as-built" documentation, so the customer’s operations team can run the platform confidently once you have moved on. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW β€’ Public cloud. Hands-on experience running workloads in at least one major cloud platform β€” AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. You should be comfortable in the console and the command line, not just familiar with the concepts. β€’ Containers and Kubernetes. Strong practical experience securing containerised environments. You have worked with Kubernetes and the managed services built on it (Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, Google GKE), and you understand how workloads are scheduled, secured, and troubleshot in production. β€’ Security in the development pipeline. A solid grasp of how modern engineering teams build and ship software, and how security fits into that. You know how to place automated security checks early in the process β€” before code reaches production β€” and how to do it without slowing developers down. Experience with GitOps and common build-and-release pipelines expected. β€’ Infrastructure as code and scripting. Working knowledge of Terraform for defining infrastructure in code, plus scripting in Python or Bash to automate the repetitive parts. β€’ Cloud networking. A clear understanding of how cloud networks are built and secured: virtual networks, routing, load balancers, network address translation, firewall and security group rules, and site-to-site VPN connectivity. PALO ALTO NETWORKS PRODUCT EXPERIENCE β€’ Deep product knowledge. Substantial hands-on experience with cloud native application protection platforms (CNAPP) β€” ideally Prisma Cloud or Cortex Cloud. β€’ Confident working across the full platform: – Cloud posture management (CSPM) β€” finding and fixing misconfigurations and policy violations across cloud accounts. – Workload protection (CWP) β€” securing the workloads themselves: virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes clusters, and serverless functions. – Application security β€” securing code and the build pipeline before anything reaches production. – Vulnerability management β€” identifying, prioritising, and driving remediation of security weaknesses. – Compliance β€” mapping customer environments against the regulatory and industry standards that apply to them.
