About The Role The Back End Software Developer position at LMI is a critical role supporting the enhancement and maintenance of the RAPTR platform, a sophisticated Modeling, Simulation, Prototyping, Wargaming, & Analysis environment. This role requires a highly skilled developer to design, develop, and optimize backend services that facilitate complex analytical workflows for analysts, data scientists, and engineers operating within the space domain. The successful candidate will translate analytical requirements into scalable backend capabilities, including APIs, data pipelines, and integration services, ensuring seamless interaction between modeling tools, data repositories, and visualization interfaces. This role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and analytical problem-solving, contributing to mission-critical operations that support national security and space domain analysis. Candidates should be comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments and may have the flexibility to work remotely or on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field5-10 years of experience in backend software development, demonstrating senior-level proficiencyProficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.jsExperience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architecturesExperience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)Background in building or supporting data-intensive applications or analytical platformsFamiliarity with backend frameworks such as Django, Flask, or Spring FrameworkStrong understanding of software design principles, performance optimization, and scalable system architectureExperience with version control systems like GitAbility to adapt in fast-paced, dynamic environments with loosely defined requirementsExcellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred qualifications include experience supporting modeling & simulation platforms, familiarity with cloud services like AWS or Azure, expertise in data pipelines and ETL processes, exposure to space or defense systems, experience with containerization tools like Docker, and active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to obtain a CI Polygraph.
