Senior Software Engineer

Application Deadline: 30 September 2026 Department: Engineering Location: Australia (Remote) Compensation: AU$135,000 - AU$165,000 / year Description We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Pathify’s Australian engineering team. You’ll work across our front end and back end stack, primarily using Python/Django, Angular and TypeScript, as well as emerging AI capabilities including agent workflows built on foundation models such as Gemini. This is a senior individual contributor role. You’ll be expected to take ownership of complex and sometimes ambiguous engineering problems, determine the right technical approach, and deliver high-quality solutions from design through to production. Key Responsibilities Own the design and delivery of significant features and technical initiatives across your team’s domainTranslate product requirements and ambiguous problems into pragmatic, scalable technical solutionsMake sound architectural and implementation decisions, balancing quality, speed, maintainability and customer impactBuild and maintain robust applications using Python/Django, Angular and TypeScriptWork closely with Product, Design and other engineers to shape technical specifications and delivery plansTake responsibility for code quality, testing, debugging, deployment and ongoing operation of the software you buildImprove existing systems and identify opportunities to simplify, modernise or strengthen our codebaseProvide thoughtful code reviews and technical guidance to other engineersMentor and support less experienced engineers and contribute to raising engineering standards across the teamExplore and apply new technologies, including foundation models and agent-based workflows, where they can meaningfully improve our products Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated capabilityStrong experience building modern web applications across both backend and frontendProficiency in Python and Django — or deep expertise in another Python web framework with the ability to become productive in Django quicklyStrong JavaScript and TypeScript skillsExpertise with a modern frontend framework; Angular experience is strongly preferredExperience working with foundation models or AI-enabled applications; Gemini experience is an advantageExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs; Django REST Framework experience is preferredStrong knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQLSolid understanding of software design principles, data structures and common architectural patternsStrong Git and modern software-development workflow experienceThe ability to independently work through complex problems and make good technical decisions without needing detailed directionStrong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearlyA track record of helping other engineers improve through mentoring, code review or technical leadershipA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experienceUnrestricted working rights in Australia Benefits Competitive salary of AU$135,000–$165,000 base + superWork remotely from anywhere in AustraliaA collaborative engineering culture with meaningful technical autonomyThe opportunity to solve complex problems across a broad and modern technology stackExposure to rapidly evolving technologies including AI, foundation models and agent workflowsClear engineering career levels, with opportunities to progress into technical leadership, Staff and Principal engineering roles Pathify sells the best Campus Experience Platform in the world.
