Senior Python Engineer / Lead Python Engineer We’re working with a high growth UK fintech that is modernising the infrastructure behind wealth management and financial advice. The business has built a proprietary technology platform that enables financial advisers to manage investments, portfolios and client accounts through a modern, technology led infrastructure. Having scaled significantly in recent years, they are continuing to invest heavily in their engineering organisation and are looking for experienced Python Engineers across Senior to Lead level. This is an opportunity to join a technically ambitious team working on high scale financial technology, where engineering is central to the product and wider business. The Role As a Senior or Lead Python Engineer, you’ll work on the core platform that underpins the company’s products and services. You’ll have significant ownership over technical decisions, system design and the development of new capabilities, working closely with Product, Engineering and other teams across the business. Depending on seniority, you’ll also have the opportunity to influence engineering standards, architecture and technical direction, as well as mentor and support other engineers. What you’ll be doing Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using PythonWork on core financial and investment platform functionalityDevelop robust, reliable and secure systems handling sensitive financial dataContribute to architectural and technical decisions across the platformWork closely with Product, Engineering and other stakeholders to deliver new functionalityImprove the scalability, performance and reliability of existing systemsWrite high quality, well tested and maintainable codeContribute to engineering standards, practices and technical strategyAt Lead level, provide technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering teamHelp shape the future architecture and technical direction of the platform What we’re looking for We’re interested in engineers who have strong experience building production grade Python systems, particularly within financial services or other technically complex environments. You’ll ideally have: Strong commercial experience with PythonExperience building backend services, APIs or distributed systemsExperience within financial services, fintech, banking, investments or wealth managementStrong understanding of software engineering principles and system designExperience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQLExperience developing and maintaining cloud based applicationsA strong focus on testing, reliability and code qualityExperience working within a modern engineering environmentA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical disciplineAn engineering degree from a strong UK university would be a particular plusThe ability to take ownership of complex problems and work autonomously Fintech or financial services experience is a major plus, particularly if you’ve worked on platforms involving investments, trading, payments, financial data or other highly regulated systems.
