Description
Freelance Mobile Engineer · Amsterdam · 3+ days in office · Start ASAP · Freelance / contract
We build medical care that works like the best consumer products: personal, fast, and in your pocket.
From first click to medication at your door, every step runs on code our team writes.
Right now we need someone to build the "in your pocket" part for real.
TL;DR
Mila Health is the company behind Fellos and Goodweigh, two fast-growing digital health brands that together form an end-to-end platform putting people at the helm of their own health.
We grew from tens of thousands of euros in early 2025 to €2.7M in June 2026 (€32M annual run rate), over 3,100% year-on-year, with proven unit economics and early traction in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.
We've raised over €7 million in funding to fuel our rise across Europe.
We're building the Goodweigh companion app - React Native and Expo - and we're looking for a freelance mobile engineer to build it with us, starting as soon as you can.
What you'd be building
The Goodweigh companion app: the phone-shaped version of a treatment journey.
Patients track their progress and weight over time, chat with their doctor, follow their medication schedule, get nudged at the right moment, and see results improve week over week.
Ordering and delivery happen in the same place.
It's a consumer product that happens to deliver real medical care.
The design already exists.
Screens, flows, and the design system are done and signed off.
There is room for own interpretation when it comes to user journeys and low level UX details.
The stack
Mobile: React Native / Expo, TypeScriptMonorepo: Turborepo + Bun, TypeScript everywhereBackend & data: Supabase (Postgres), Medusa v2 for commerce, RailwayAsync & jobs: Trigger.dev
Modern, no legacy.
The mobile app is early enough that the decisions that matter - navigation, state, release pipeline, native modules, over-the-air updates - are still open, and you'll be the one making them.
You merge, it ships: we deploy multiple times a day, every day.
What you'd own
Build the Goodweigh companion app from the existing design to the App Store and Play StoreSet up the mobile foundations: EAS builds and submissions, OTA updates, crash reporting, push notifications, release flowWire the app into our existing platform: Supabase, Medusa, our own APIsGet it through App Store and Play Store review, and out to real patientsWork directly with the founders, our Tech Lead, design, operations, and the medical teamLeave behind something our team can keep building on after your contract ends: patterns, docs, and a codebase that reads like the rest of ours
Who you are
You've shipped real React Native apps to real users, and you can point at them.
5+ years of professional React Native / Expo experience, with apps live in both storesStrong TypeScript.
Comfortable reading and extending backend code when the app needs itYou've handled the unglamorous parts: store review, signing and provisioning, EAS, OTA updates, deep links, push notifications, offline and flaky-network statesYou translate a design faithfully - spacing, typography, colors - and you notice when something feels offAvailable now, or close to it, and able to commit real capacityFluent in English (Dutch is a plus)Based in the Netherlands, and set up to invoice as a freelancer (ZZP/BV)Health-domain experience isn't required.
The practical stuff
Start: ASAPHybrid, but present: at least 3 days per week at our office in Amsterdam.
Full-time in office for the first stretch so you get up to speed on the platform and the domain fastDuration: 2 months, with a real chance of extensionFree lunch at the office
Is this you?
Send us a short intro and something you've built.
Ideally an app we can download.
We care more about what you've shipped than a polished cover letter.
