Seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join a Backend & Platform Engineering team in Vancouver.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, automation, backend development, and AI-powered engineering tools.
What you’ll be working on:
Deploying and supporting backend/platform services on AWSSupporting Kubernetes / Amazon EKS and containerized environmentsBuilding automation using Ansible, scripting, and Infrastructure as CodeDeveloping internal tools and services using Node.js, JavaScript & TypeScriptMonitoring systems, troubleshooting production issues, and performing root cause analysisSupporting MongoDB databases, backups, restores, and performanceImproving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automationUsing AI coding assistants and agents for development, scripting, log analysis, documentation, and operationsCreating technical documentation and operational runbooksWorking closely with developers to improve reliability and deployment practicesWhat we’re looking for:
1–3 years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, IT/System Administration, or Backend DevelopmentCo-op and internship experience countsStrong programming/scripting skills, ideally Node.js / JavaScript / TypeScriptWorking knowledge of LinuxExperience with GitFamiliarity with REST APIs, networking, and web fundamentalsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsComfortable using AI tools or excited to incorporate them into daily engineering workNice to have: AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, MongoDB, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, Bash/Shell scripting, IAM and cloud security fundamentals.
