Description

Own the frontend of one of Australia's largest kitchenware retailers — from Manila. Kitchen Warehouse is one of Australia's largest specialty kitchenware retailers. Suitestudio Operations Inc. is our Manila shared services company, and we are building the internal engineering team that takes full ownership of the eCommerce platform. This is a foundational hire, reporting directly to our Head of Engineering & Architecture with no layer of management in between. You are not inheriting someone else's rules. You are writing them. The role Own the frontend architecture: component patterns, data fetching, state and dynamic import strategy are yours to define.Write the coding standards, get them into CI, and own the document our Claude-powered review agents enforce on every pull request.Lead our TypeScript strict mode migration on an existing codebase, without stalling feature delivery.Lift the standard of everything that ships through code review — including the work of our external development partner.Work in the TypeScript BFF layer when the task calls for it. Our core stack: Next.js (Pages Router), React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, commercetools, and a TypeScript BFF. Claude-powered agents review every PR — you write the standards they enforce. Humans approve everything that reaches production. What we need 5+ years frontend engineering, including 2+ years in Next.js. Pages Router experience is essential.Strong TypeScript. Having led a strict mode migration on an existing codebase is what we are really looking for.Hands-on experience writing code in a TypeScript BFF or API layer. A requirement, not a bonus.Tailwind or comparable utility-first CSS at scale.Demonstrated experience raising a team's standard through code review, including people you did not manage.Strong written English. You will be writing the standards document everyone works to.Comfortable reviewing AI-generated code on the merits.Headless commerce experience is a real advantage — commercetools especially.
