Currently on the market for a Senior Cloud Engineer for an initial 3-month contract for one of our leading retail clients, located in Melbourne.
About the Role
This role places you within the Cloud Platform Team in the Technology and Digital department, where you will be responsible for the reliable BAU and design/implementation, cloud-native services, platform maintenance, and automation of our critical Azure and cloud infrastructure.
The core objective is to ensure optimal platform health, proactively managing Cloud Monitor, incidents, and service requests.
A key component of this position involves Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Azure DevOps for scalable solutions, leveraging Cloud Networking knowledge, and maintaining a proactive, ownership-driven approach to continuous platform improvement and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure the continuous health, availability, and performance of the Azure infrastructure environment and related cloud services.Ensure monitoring and observability for the platforms and systems.
Dashboards, and telemetry frameworks that provide end-to-end visibility of platform health and service dependencies.Respond to and efficiently resolve platform incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.Configure, manage, and optimise Azure Monitor and logging solutions to provide comprehensive visibility and timely alerting across the environment.Enhancing the reliability, security, and visibility of identity platforms through automation, operational support, and collaborative governance initiatives.Develop, maintain, and manage Azure infrastructure components using Terraform for repeatable, reliable, and automated deployments.Build and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps for efficient application and infrastructure delivery.Drives platform integrity by implementing governance controls and security hardening while supporting FinOps initiatives and compliance standards to ensure a cost-optimized, secure-by-default environment.Utilize PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Python to automate routine tasks and enhance operational efficiency.Design and deploy core Azure/AWS resources, including compute (VMs, EC2, AKS), storage, databases, and serverless functions.Configure and manage Azure networking components (e.g., vNet, VPC, Load Balancers, Application Gateways, ExpressRoute, VPNs) to ensure secure and efficient connectivity.Implement and enforce security best practices, governance policies, and compliance standards within the Cloud environment.Participate in platform-related project requests, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.Provide technical guidance and support to development and application teams for leveraging Azure services optimally.
About You:
An experienced Cloud Engineer across hybrid enterprise-scale environments; cloud platforms, network/comms, distributed multi-site infrastructures, edge-computing and integration domains.Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Microsoft Azure infrastructure services.Proven capability implementing Infrastructure as Code using TerraformWorking knowledge of private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, plus experience working with major service providers (Azure).Azure Firewall and Azure Private Endpoint experienceRetail experience preferred
