Senior AI Engineer

🚀 We’re Hiring: Sr. AI Engineer | Join SumX At SumX, we are looking for a proactive and solution-driven Sr. AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy intelligent AI/ML-driven applications. If you are passionate about building scalable AI solutions, working with cutting-edge technologies, and transforming real-world business challenges into smart automated systems, this role is for you. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You'll work across the stack: from embedding AI-powered features directly into the product experience, to building autonomous agents that can execute multi-step business processes in a production enterprise environment. 🔍 What You’ll Do Design and build AI-native features to embed directly in the core product. Build agentic workflows that can autonomously plan and execute multi-step ERP tasks, with the guardrails, approval steps, and audit trails an enterprise system requires. Design and maintain the AI infrastructure underneath these features: RAG pipelines, embeddings and vector search, model orchestration, and prompt management. Evaluate and integrate LLM providers making informed tradeoffs between cost, latency, and accuracy for each use case. Partner with product managers and engineers across teams to identify where AI can meaningfully replace or augment manual, repetitive ERP workflows. Build evaluation and monitoring systems to track AI output quality, catch hallucinations or drift in production, and drive continuous improvement. Ensure AI features are built with data-security, multi-tenant isolation, and privacy standards required for a system handling sensitive business data. ✅ What We’re Looking For 5-8+ years of overall software engineering experience, including designing and shipping production systems at scale. 2-3+ years of hands-on experience building applications with large language models: RAG, agents, embeddings, prompt engineering, and/or fine-tuning. Given how new this field is, we weigh depth and what you've shipped over number of years of experience. Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and Node.js. Practical experience with vector databases and retrieval systems (e.g. pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate). Experience integrating LLM APIs in production and/or working with self-hosted open-source models. Solid understanding of software architecture and API design, ideally within a multi-tenant SaaS environment. Familiarity with testing, evaluation, and monitoring approaches specific to AI based systems. Comfort with ambiguity: you'll be helping define patterns and practices that don't fully exist yet, rather than following an established playbook. ⭐ Good to Have Experience with agent orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, LangChain, or similar). Background in or exposure to ERP, finance, or other enterprise software domains.
