Role Overview Albany Beck is continuing to grow its Financial Markets Technology capability and is seeking an experienced Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to join our team in support of a major technology programme within a leading global clearing and capital markets organisation. Working within the SwapClear technology team, you will play a key role in supporting the build, deployment, configuration and operation of business-critical applications that underpin global financial market infrastructure. You will work closely with software engineers, Quality Engineers and infrastructure specialists to improve deployment automation, environment consistency and engineering efficiency across the software delivery lifecycle. This is a hands-on DevOps engineering role with a strong focus on AWS, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab and CI/CD practices. You will contribute to the design and management of cloud infrastructure, automated deployment pipelines and configuration management capabilities while supporting the reliability, scalability and security of enterprise technology platforms. A key aspect of the role will involve establishing and supporting Component Testing infrastructure, enabling development and Quality Engineering teams to validate services and applications within reliable, repeatable and automated environments. Key Responsibilities Build, maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines supporting application build, test and deployment activities.Develop and manage infrastructure automation using Terraform.Create and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate infrastructure and application configuration.Support the deployment, operation and optimisation of applications hosted within AWS environments.Work closely with development and Quality Engineering teams to establish and maintain Component Testing infrastructure.Automate environment provisioning and configuration to improve consistency across development, testing and deployment environments.Maintain and improve GitLab repositories, pipelines and associated development workflows.Develop scripts and automation utilities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.Support application teams with deployment, environment and infrastructure-related issues.Troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures and work with engineering teams to identify and resolve root causes.Contribute to improvements in application resiliency, deployment reliability and operational stability.Identify opportunities to automate recurring engineering and operational activities.Support environment management and infrastructure configuration throughout the software development lifecycle.Apply security best practices and appropriate access controls across cloud and deployment environments.Contribute to monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.Collaborate effectively with developers, Quality Engineers, DevOps and infrastructure teams.Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives.Ensure infrastructure and deployment configurations are version controlled, reviewed and documented. Key Skills & Experience Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer within enterprise environments.Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services.Demonstrable expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.Practical experience using Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation.Strong experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipeline development.Experience designing, building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines.Strong understanding of DevOps principles and modern software delivery practices.Experience managing infrastructure through source control and code review processes.Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and application issues across multiple environments.Experience supporting scalable, secure and resilient cloud-based platforms.Strong scripting and automation capabilities, ideally with Python.Experience supporting development teams through tooling, automation and platform improvements.Familiarity with monitoring, operational support and continuous improvement practices.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.Experience working within Agile software delivery environments. Desirable Experience Financial Services, Capital Markets or Investment Banking experience.Exposure to clearing platforms and post-trade processing environments.Experience working within highly regulated environments.Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies.Experience with monitoring and observability tooling.Exposure to enterprise security and access management controls.Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems.Familiarity with Quality Engineering and test automation practices.
