About PARCS & ObjectSaver PARCS is a technology company building software for public safety and personal protection. Founded between 2016, we've spent the early years building foundational products that solve real problems: Artefact, our evidence and case management platform for police departments, and Object Saver, an inventory and proof-of-ownership app that helps people protect their valuables. We've operated bootstrapped since day one, staying intentionally small (< 10 people) to maintain focus and agility. Today we're at an inflection point: Artefact is gaining traction with early police department customers, Object Saver is approaching launch, and we're ready to bring on a Founding Engineer to help us build the next chapter. The OpportunityThis is not a maintenance role. As one of the first engineering hires, you will: ● Ship Object Saver 1.0 : Take our inventory app from MVP to market-ready product ● Scale Artefact : Expand our police software from pilot customers to widespread deployment ● Build the convergence : Architect the platform integration that connects public safety infrastructure with consumer protection tools You'll work across the full stack and help define our technical culture, architecture decisions, and engineering practices from the ground up. What You'll Do● Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across both products ● Build AI-powered features using computer vision and vector search (object identification, image similarity, automated processing) ● Own technical decisions and trade-offs with real autonomy ● Work closely with founders, customers, and end-users to iterate quickly ● Establish engineering foundations: testing, CI/CD, observability ● Help build the team and culture as we grow Tech Stack We don't believe in buzzword-driven development. We choose tools that give us leverage: Backend & APIs ● Python with FastAPI : modern, type-safe, high-performance APIs ● SQLAlchemy 2.0 + PostgreSQL : robust data modeling with async support ● Pydantic : runtime validation that scales ● Keycloak : enterprise-grade authentication (OAuth2/OpenID Connect) Frontend & Mobile ● SvelteKit 2 + Svelte 5 : reactive, performant, developer-friendly ● TypeScript : end-to-end type safety ● SMUI : Material Design components ● Capacitor 5 : native iOS/Android apps from web codebase AI & Data ● PyTorch + TensorFlow : deep learning frameworks ● Transformers (Hugging Face) : state-of-the-art vision and language models ● Milvus : vector database for similarity search ● OpenCV : computer vision operations ● Elasticsearch : search and analytics ● Scrapy : data acquisition at scale Infrastructure ● Docker : containerization ● Dokku : self-hosted PaaS for Artefact ● Vercel : edge deployment for Object Saver ● Supabase : managed PostgreSQL, auth, and storage Who You Are ● Experienced full-stack engineer : You're comfortable across Python backends, modern frontend frameworks, and mobile development ● Product-minded : You care about what we're building and why, not just how ● Autonomous : You thrive with ownership and figure things out independently ● Fast learner : You can pick up new technologies and domains quickly ● French/English fluent : Required for working with our police customers ● European timezone : For team collaboration across our offices You might have worked at an early-stage startup before, or you're ready to make the leap from a larger company where you want more impact and ownership.
