About the Role
At Progressive Labs, we are evolving from code delivery to value delivery.
We are looking for a Product Engineer, someone who doesn’t just ship pull requests, but ships outcomes.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product thinking, and user empathy.
You will work closely with founders, designers, and clients to understand ICPs, user problems, and business goals, and translate them into well-crafted product features.
You are expected to think beyond tickets and PRs and take ownership of why a feature exists, who it is for, and how it creates value.
What You’ll Do
Own features end-to-end: from problem understanding → solution design → implementation → iteration.Actively participate in product discussions, not just technical ones.Translate user needs, business requirements, and constraints into pragmatic technical solutions.Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to refine UX and workflows.Use AI tools extensively (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development, debugging, documentation, and research.Make trade-offs consciously (speed vs quality, scope vs impact).Measure success by user impact, not just code quality.Continuously review and adopt appropriate tools and technologies to improve product delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Product Mindset (Must Have)
2+ years of hands-on experience in software/product engineering.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Strong curiosity about users, ICPs, and real-world problems.Ability to ask “Why are we building this?” before “How do we build this?”Comfort working with some ambiguity and shaping requirements collaboratively.Bias toward outcomes and value delivery.
Engineering Skills
Solid experience with modern backend development (Python/ Node.
js).Ability to thoughtfully design APIs, data models, and system flows.Good understanding of performance, security, and maintainability.Comfortable reading, writing, and refactoring production code.Experience with startups, SaaS, or product-led teams is a plus.
