Graduate Software Developer

Role DescriptionThe Graduate Developer will support the design, development, testing, maintenance, and improvement of software applications and digital solutions. The role provides an opportunity to apply programming knowledge to practical projects while working collaboratively with developers, analysts, product teams, and other technical stakeholders. Key responsibilities include translating functional requirements into software solutions, writing clean and maintainable code, developing application features, fixing bugs, and supporting improvements to existing systems. The role will contribute to development activities across different stages of the software development lifecycle. The position will assist with coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and technical problem-solving. Responsibilities may include developing frontend or backend components, working with APIs and databases, integrating software services, and supporting application functionality according to project requirements. The Graduate Developer will participate in code reviews, testing activities, version control, technical discussions, and development planning. The role will also help investigate application issues, identify potential causes, implement solutions, and verify that changes operate as expected. Additional responsibilities include maintaining technical documentation, supporting software releases, improving application performance, learning development frameworks and tools, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role may also involve exposure to cloud platforms, automated testing, CI/CD processes, and modern software development practices. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong logical thinking, problem-solving ability, curiosity, and attention to detail. A willingness to learn new technologies and apply software engineering principles to practical challenges is essential. QualificationsBachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Understanding of fundamental software development concepts, programming principles, algorithms, and data structures.Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, C++, PHP, Go, or a similar language.Understanding of object-oriented programming and basic software design principles.Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems.Basic understanding of databases, SQL, data structures, and database relationships.Familiarity with web development concepts, APIs, HTTP, JSON, and client-server architecture is advantageous.Understanding of software testing, debugging, error handling, and quality-assurance principles.Ability to read and understand technical documentation, source code, specifications, and development requirements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break technical problems into manageable steps.Strong attention to detail when writing, reviewing, testing, and debugging code.Familiarity with development environments, code editors, command-line tools, and software development workflows.Understanding of basic software security concepts, authentication, input validation, and responsible data handling.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.Basic understanding of Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, or DevOps concepts is advantageous.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, designers, QA analysts, product managers, and other stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple development tasks and priorities.Willingness to learn new programming languages, frameworks, libraries, tools, and development methodologies.Proactive and adaptable mindset with a strong interest in software development, technology, and continuous improvement.
