Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer

Our client is a well-established Western Australian professional services organisation with a reputation for excellence and a strong commitment to innovation. They're seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer to join their internal IT team in a key hands-on role supporting the business's infrastructure, cloud and security environments. This is an opportunity to work directly with the CIO, take ownership of critical technology platforms and play an important role in shaping the future direction of the organisation's technology environment. The Opportunity This isn't a traditional infrastructure support role. You'll become the senior technical escalation point within a close-knit IT team, responsible for maintaining and improving a modern hybrid technology environment while working alongside trusted technology partners. You'll have the autonomy to make technical recommendations, lead infrastructure improvements, mentor a junior Systems Administrator and ensure the environment remains secure, reliable and fit for the future. Your Responsibilities As the Senior Infrastructure & Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation's infrastructure, cloud and security platforms. You'll provide senior technical support across Microsoft technologies, networking and infrastructure, work closely with external technology partners, contribute to infrastructure and security projects, and mentor a junior Systems Administrator. You'll also identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience and security while ensuring the technology environment continues to support the needs of the business. Technology Environment You'll work across a modern enterprise environment including technologies such as: Microsoft AzureMicrosoft 365Entra ID / Active DirectoryCisco MerakiPalo AltoCitrixCrowdStrikeNetskopeWindows ServerHybrid and virtualised infrastructure About You We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer or Senior Systems Engineer who enjoys remaining technically hands-on while taking ownership of a business-critical environment. You'll have strong experience across Microsoft infrastructure and cloud technologies together with exposure to networking, security and enterprise infrastructure. Experience with Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto, Citrix, CrowdStrike or Netskope would be highly regarded, although we're more interested in finding someone with strong technical capability and a willingness to learn than someone who ticks every technology box. You'll also be someone who naturally takes ownership, communicates well with stakeholders, enjoys mentoring others and builds strong working relationships with colleagues and technology partners.
