Role Description
The Senior AI QA Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu.
This is a senior, strategic, and hands-on position responsible for establishing and managing QA strategies across multiple projects, including web applications, AI-powered products, and data-intensive platforms.
This is not an on-demand or test-execution-only role.
The Senior AI QA Engineer will proactively evaluate project requirements, identify quality risks, and independently create comprehensive QA strategies, test plans, processes, and release-readiness standards.
The role will oversee the complete QA lifecycle—from planning and test coverage through defect management, regression testing, reporting, and final release validation.
The engineer will lead and mentor junior and mid-level QA team members, delegate testing responsibilities, review their work, and ensure consistent QA standards across projects.
The position also requires close collaboration with developers, project managers, and product teams to identify quality gaps, investigate root causes, improve development processes, and prevent recurring issues.
In addition to providing strategic leadership, the Senior AI QA Engineer will remain hands-on with manual, exploratory, API, integration, regression, and automated testing.
The role will also validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, consistency, reliability, and potential hallucinations while using AI-assisted tools to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a senior or lead QA role, with responsibility for defining and managing QA strategies across multiple software projects.Strong ability to independently create test strategies, test plans, quality standards, release criteria, and risk-based testing approaches.Experience leading, mentoring, and coordinating QA team members while reviewing test coverage and ensuring accountability.Strong hands-on experience with functional, regression, integration, API, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.Experience testing AI-powered or data-intensive applications, including validating prompts, workflows, source data, model responses, edge cases, and hallucinations.Familiarity with test automation tools such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium, along with API-testing, defect-tracking, and CI/CD tools.Strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the confidence to make quality recommendations and release-readiness decisions.A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant QA, automation, or AI certifications are an advantage.
