As a Systems Engineer at Scripps, you'll be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of our systems hardware, software, operating systems, and related infrastructure. You'll ensure that our technology adheres to organizational standards while supporting the company's mission to serve our communities with excellence. What You'll Do Responsible for the enterprise-wide maintenance and administration of all Windows servers, Active Directory, VMware, infrastructure tools, and disaster recoveryResponsible for maintaining current and future VMware vSphere hosting environments. Maintains and deploys new virtual machines as necessaryAdministers Azure-based serversMeets with system engineers regarding current and prospective systems changes and future needsProvides level 1 and 2 technical support to internal and external customers as necessaryIdentifies system resources that are nearing capacity, and recommends solutions to resolve potential system resource over-allocation proactivelyParticipates in on-call rotation to include after-hours and weekend activities in a production environmentParticipates in, or independently performs scheduled after-hours/weekend system deployment and maintenance activitiesCreates and updates process documentation and standardsMaintains a positive working relationship with IT technical staff, customers, and managed services providersCoordinates with network engineers, systems analysts, programmers, and other software engineers to resolve any defects in products or company systemsPerforms software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance What You'll Need Two-year degree in computer science or equivalent experience and certification3+ years of experience in a production-oriented, highly available, hosting operations environment requiredMust be able to lift to 50 pounds What You'll Bring Prior system troubleshooting experiencePrior experience with Microsoft Active Directory and GPO administration, PowerShell scripting, and automation skills relative to infrastructure technologiesExperience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essentialDemonstrated experience successfully working in cross-functional project teamsDemonstrated experience administering public cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure or AWSAbility to work and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucialProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesMust be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologiesStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsCustomer service skills an assetHighly self-motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail If you are a current Scripps employee, please do not apply on this site.
