JavaScript Software Engineer

Job Title: Software Engineer JAVASCRIPT Location: Luxembourg (Remote) Duration: 64 Days (4 days onsite + 60 days Remote) Language: English Candidates: EU Citizens Daily Rate: 240 - 250 € per day Job Description: Context of the Role: The Client’s Group is looking for three Software Engineers to provide technical assistance within the 1st Line of Defence Factory 2025 project, managed by the SPBS Factory team. The SPBS Factory is a cross-functional entity responsible for developing analytical and decision-making tools for Financial Institutions (FI) in the context of the first line of defence. The assignment covers several key initiatives: Further improvement and expansion of the FInMetric application, including infrastructure, analytical tools, on-demand intraday market data and business-oriented user interfaces.Calculation of the Bank's daily FX position, supporting enhanced accuracy and risk management.Further enhancement, validation and operationalisation of the Fund Transfer Pricing application.Continuous enhancement and maintenance of tools previously delivered by the SPBS Factory and currently running in production.The consultants will work closely with business users and technical teams to develop, test and maintain reliable financial applications and automated calculation frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Software Development & Financial Calculation Framework Contribute to the establishment and enhancement of a robust core software framework supporting financial calculations.Develop and maintain application components supporting the SPBS Factory's analytical and decision-making tools.Support the implementation of financial calculation capabilities within the existing application landscape.Ensure solutions are reliable, maintainable and aligned with technical and business requirements.Contribute to applications supporting FInMetric, FX position calculations, Fund Transfer Pricing and related tools.Python Development Particularly relevant for the Software Engineer JAVA Intermediate profiles Develop and maintain software components using Python.Implement reliable and maintainable Python-based calculation and processing logic.Support the integration of Python components into the wider application environment.Troubleshoot and optimise Python code.Apply software development best practices and quality standards.Contribute to testing and validation of Python-based applications and calculations.React JS Development Particularly relevant for the Software Engineer JAVASCRIPT Senior profile Develop and maintain frontend applications using React JS.Implement business-oriented user interfaces supporting financial and analytical applications.Design reusable, maintainable and scalable React components.Work closely with business users to translate functional needs into effective user interfaces.Troubleshoot and optimise React-based applications.Contribute to frontend architecture and development standards.Test Automation & Quality Assurance Develop, extend and maintain automated testing solutions.Support and extend the automated integration testing framework.Ensure that deployed financial calculations can be tested in a repeatable and automated manner.Ensure appropriate test coverage across delivered software components.Support unit, integration and automated testing activities.Identify and resolve software quality issues.Ensure compliance with applicable Sonar quality checks.Contribute to continuous improvement of testing and software quality practices.Citizen Developer Support Support citizen developers involved in the implementation of business applications and financial calculations.Ensure appropriate software implementation practices are followed.Provide technical guidance on coding, testing and quality standards.Help ensure appropriate test coverage for citizen-developed solutions.Support compliance with Sonar quality requirements.Review implementations and provide recommendations where necessary.Business & Technical Collaboration Work closely with business stakeholders to co-develop software solutions addressing both functional and technical requirements.Translate business requirements into appropriate technical implementations.Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers and other stakeholders.Participate in technical analysis, development and implementation activities.Support troubleshooting and resolution of functional and technical issues.Communicate clearly regarding technical decisions, risks and implementation progress.Knowledge Transfer & Service Continuity Ensure effective knowledge sharing within the project team.Document relevant technical solutions and implementation practices.Support continuity of the applications and services delivered by the SPBS Factory.Contribute to maintaining and enhancing existing production tools.Mandatory Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or another relevant field. ORIn the absence of a relevant Master's degree, at least 5 years of equivalent professional experience.Mandatory Experience: Candidates must demonstrate: At least 5 years of experience in React JS programming.At least 5 years of experience in test automation.At least 5 years of experience working closely with business stakeholders to co-implement software solutions satisfying both functional and technical requirements.Preferred Experience: Preferably at least 2 years of experience in Finance.Core Competencies: Strong React JS development experience.Strong knowledge of modern frontend development practices.Extensive experience with automated testing.Ability to design maintainable and reliable frontend solutions.Strong experience collaborating directly with business stakeholders.Ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills.Strong focus on software quality and testing.Ability to work effectively in a complex institutional environment.Nice to Have: For both profiles: Previous experience within the European Investment Bank, European Investment Fund or similar European institutions.Experience in banking or financial services.Experience developing financial or analytical applications.Experience supporting financial calculations or risk-related applications.Knowledge of automated integration testing frameworks.Experience with Sonar / SonarQube quality controls.Experience supporting citizen developers.Experience working with business-critical production applications.Experience in Agile or structured software delivery environments.
