About the RoleSsquare Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building and modernising cloud-native integration platforms.
You will design and develop enterprise Java applications, migrate microservices to AWS, and help improve automation, platform resilience, scalability and engineering standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.Migrate on-premises microservices to AWS.Build scalable, secure and resilient cloud-native services.Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.Conduct impact assessments and recommend appropriate technical solutions.Implement automated testing, CI/CD and DevOps practices.Monitor and optimise application performance and reliability.Support production incidents, deployments and on-call rotations.Participate in code reviews and maintain technical documentation.
Essential Skills8+ years of software engineering experience.Strong Java 17+, Spring Framework and Spring Boot expertise.Microservices architecture and distributed systems experience.Apache Kafka or similar messaging technology.Hands-on AWS experience, including EKS, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, SNS and SQS.AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, SQL and JPA/Hibernate.Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.CI/CD pipeline development and troubleshooting.Observability and monitoring, ideally OpenTelemetry.Unix/Linux scripting.Maven, Git, GitLab or Bitbucket.Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
Desirable SkillsJenkins, Ansible, Nexus and SonarQube.Cucumber or similar automated testing frameworks.AWS FinOps practices.FIX Messaging Protocol.SQL Server administration or development.FTP/SFTP and job-scheduling technologies.Disaster recovery and business continuity experience.
