About the Opportunity The Software Engineer develops and improves a flagship platform used by hundreds of thousands of frontline workers globally. This role focuses on building new features, maintaining reliable software, and supporting applications deployed in challenging environments. The position is ideal for a collaborative, self-directed engineer interested in using technology to create meaningful social impact. Responsibilities • Develop new platform features using software development best practices, including version control and automated testing. • Collaborate with diverse development and implementation teams across multiple countries. • Build accessible, user-friendly software for individuals with varying levels of technical experience. • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver product functionality. • Participate in agile development practices, including code reviews and release testing. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience. • Proficiency in Python. • Experience building high-quality web applications. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. • Ability to manage work independently and proactively identify problems. • Strong prioritization and self-management skills. • Familiarity with Python, Django, Postgres, Elasticsearch, JavaScript, Alpine.js, HTMX, CSS, Bootstrap, and HTML. • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools. • Interest in public health and international development. • Familiarity with open-source technology. • Experience in data engineering is a plus.
