And that’s where you come in. Job Description: Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior System Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is based Brisbane, Australia. An exciting opportunity has opened for a TMS Software Systems Engineer to join us working in a passionate team on the latest developments in Traffic Management Systems. Our systems work within enterprise platforms utilising message brokers, canonical data models and utilising micro-services and enterprise integration patterns. Deployment is primarily on virtual machines with containerisation. External interfaces cover a broad set of protocols including SCADA interfaces, bespoke UDP and TCP interfaces, modbus, message brokers and more. Key responsibilities: The systems engineer will report to the work pack lead and software development manager a to produce a wide variety of specifications, designs, and plans. This is a broad role that will have the opportunity to really push into a variety of areas including: Writing sub-system requirements (in IBM DOORS) derived from system requirements complete with tracingWriting component level requirementsWriting interface specifications including documenting and describing the message formatsWriting system and subsystem architectures including but not limited to logical diagrams, physical diagrams, sequence diagrams and system interactionsWriting hardware design specifications including rough hardware drawings that can be provided to a CAD engineerWriting specifications for sub-contracting software functionalityWriting software quality assurance plans, verification and validation plans and software configuration management plans with traceability to standardsManaging quotation through procurement departments of hardware and software through to ordering and deliveryDesigning rollout strategies that include operating models and migration of user operations within a rail dispatch environmentMuch of the software is safety related and requires adherence to software processes, coding standards, cyber security standards and safety standards such as Cenelec EN 50128.Ensure compliance with Hitachi Rail standards and regulatory requirements Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone who is passionate about systems engineering, who understands software but can expand their horizon to analyse and produce a broad set of types of specifications. You would have the attributes of a business analyst while also be able to produce novel solutions using a variety of design approaches with a strong attention to detail. You should have a love of producing quality, detailed and accurate documentation and be efficient at producing specifications of significant size and complexity in a traceable way to requirements and test cases, particularly when modelling using UML/SysML sequence diagrams. You will have at least 5 years’ experience as a systems engineer, software architect, business analyst or similar relevant role. A software background is highly regarded. Essential criteria: 5+ years of professional industry experience as a systems engineer, software architect, business analyst or similar relevant roleDemonstrated experience with UML/SysML or other design modelling;Demonstrated experience writing software requirementsDemonstrable capacity to work independently and collaboratively;Demonstrable ability to deliver to tight deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work. Highly desirable criteria: Experience with JMS, message brokers, enterprise integration patterns, micro service patterns;Real time/semi-real time software design/development experience;Experience in the rail industry;Experience in or supporting system/subsystem integration;Experience in Cenelec standards. Education, Skills And Experience Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Systems Engineer, Railway Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
