We are looking for a Senior Data Mesh Platforms Engineer to join our Data Mesh and AI Platforms team. You will join a small, agile team with a strong mandate to drive impact across Nordea. Your success after one year means we have stable, scalable, and reusable data platform capabilities in production, enabling domain teams to efficiently build and operate high‑quality data products. About Our Team Welcome to the Data Mesh and AI team. We operate at the infrastructure layer of Nordea’s data estate, building and maintaining shared data platform capabilities that enable Data Mesh and large‑scale analytics and AI use cases. Our mission is to re‑use, integrate, and standardize technologies already adopted at Nordea, ensuring they are delivered in a consistent, secure, and scalable way across the organization. The team plays a key enabling role for the Data Product Hub under Group Data Management (GDM) by providing robust foundations for data integration, streaming, analytical storage, and governance. In this role you will contribute to the ongoing evolution of our platforms while also ensuring operational stability, reliability, and compliance in a banking‑grade environment. You will work closely with data product teams, platform owners and engineers, and AI stakeholders to ensure data products are discoverable, interoperable, and ready for AI and analytics consumption. This is a fulltime permanent position with a hybrid working location in Gdansk / Gdynia, Poland. What you’ll be doing: Designing, implementing and maintaining headless data platform capabilities that support Data Mesh principles Integrating and standardizing data ingestion and streaming patterns Building and operating analytical data foundations based on Iceberg and Snowflake Enabling governed data access via Amazon S3, Lake Formation, and fine‑grained policies Supporting API‑based integration layers using Kong Provisioning infrastructure using Terraform Enabling private connectivity via AWS PrivateLink or Google Private Service Connect Who You Are You have hands‑on experience building modern data platforms, understand Data Mesh principles, and can balance platform evolution with operational stability in a regulated environment. Your background and skills include: Professional experience working with Kafka, Iceberg and Snowflake Professional experience working with data catalogs such as AWS Glue, or Open Catalog Professional experience working with AWS and / or GCP data platforms Professional experience working with Lake Formation and S3 policies for Iceberg exposure Professional experience working with Terraform It would be ideal if you also have: Experience with Spark and Flink Experience from regulated industries i.e. Banking, Government, etc. If this sounds like you, get in touch!
