About The Role We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages. What The Role Will Involve The responsibilities of your role will include the following: Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems design, agile development, review, test-driven development, integration, and verification.Presenting design details during design reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation.Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.Participate in internal and external demonstration activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.Maintain a continuous improvement mindset. What You’ll Bring The role requires the following experience and skills: An active Commonwealth Security ClearanceDegree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.4+ years’ experience in similar role.Ability to read and review schematics, and work collaboratively with hardware engineers on designs.Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ on bare metal or with RTOS.Working with low level communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN etc.Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes. Desirable Requirements Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.Experience in using and building software for embedded Linux.Experience in designing software for RF, communications or EW applicationsExperience with designing software for hardware interfaces such as PCIE and JESD.Experience developing custom peripheral interfaces on programmable logic.Experience with complex algorithm design on programmable logic with space constraints.Experience with Python or another scripting languages for the purposes of emulation of hardware or software verification.
