About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer Mission Systems Software Developer (Level 5) to join our team at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
This role is pivotal in developing, integrating, and verifying mission-critical software systems that support advanced aerospace and defense projects.
The successful candidate will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture design to implementation and testing.
The position emphasizes a DevSecOps approach, leveraging continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines within an agile environment focused on delivering secure, high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
A minimum of 10 years of comprehensive experience in full software development lifecycle activities—including modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis—is required.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and Linux is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate experience with version control systems like Git, ClearCase, or Subversion.
Ability to obtain a U.S.
Secret Security Clearance post-start is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include 14 or more years of relevant experience, leadership capabilities, and a history of working in agile teams utilizing collaborative tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
A strong decision-making aptitude, independent working skills, and prior team leadership experience are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Participate in developing use cases and detailed software requirements to ensure clarity and completeness of mission system functionalities.Lead efforts to design, document, and maintain software architecture, interfaces, algorithms, and requirements for mission-critical systems.Develop and integrate complex software components into fully functional mission systems, ensuring seamless operation and interoperability.Provide technical leadership within projects, mentoring less experienced engineers and fostering best practices in software development.Act as a proactive communicator with program managers and customers, identifying areas for process improvement and ensuring alignment with project goals.Engage actively in all phases of program activities, from initial proposal and planning stages through to system delivery and support.Support the analysis of software quality metrics, implementing strategies to enhance software robustness and mitigate risks throughout development.

The pay range for this role is between $184,450 and $249,550, reflecting the level of expertise and experience required.
