About The Role
BDO's Project & Infrastructure Advisory team provides strategic, financial, commercial and transaction advice to public and private sector clients on significant infrastructure projects and commercial decisions.
Our work includes financial modelling, business cases, affordability and value-for-money assessments, delivery model analysis, market sounding, transactions, financial capacity assessments and public-private partnership analysis.
We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Financial & Commercial Advisory team in Perth.
Advanced financial modelling and Microsoft Excel capability are central to this role.
You will take ownership of defined workstreams, develop robust analysis, engage directly with clients and translate complex financial and commercial issues into clear, practical advice.
Build, review and maintain complex financial models in Excel to support business cases, feasibility studies, project finance and transaction advisory engagements.Undertake financial, commercial and quantitative analysis, including scenario and sensitivity testing, to support major investment decisions.Prepare financial and commercial analysis for infrastructure business cases, including affordability, funding and value-for-money assessments.Assess and compare infrastructure delivery models, procurement approaches and commercial structures for public and private sector projects.Conduct financial model reviews and integrity assessments, identifying risks, errors and opportunities for improvement.Support transaction advisory engagements, including due diligence, bid evaluation, commercial analysis and financial close activities.Undertake market assessments, benchmarking and industry research to inform investment and infrastructure decisions.Analyse financial statements and perform financial capacity assessments for project participants, investors and counterparties.Contribute to the financial analysis of PPP and other major infrastructure transactions, including lifecycle, refinancing and contractual assessments.Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations and decision-support materials for government and private sector clients.Engage with clients, project stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to gather information, develop solutions and deliver project outcomes.Support the preparation of proposals, EOIs, RFQs and other business development activities, including scope development and fee estimation.Provide guidance and review support to junior team members while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
About You
You are commercially minded, highly numerate and comfortable working with detail.
You can take ownership of assigned workstreams while collaborating closely with senior team members and clients.
Skills And Experience
Approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in financial and commercial advisory, infrastructure advisory, corporate finance, transaction services, consulting, project finance or a related field.Demonstrated experience building and reviewing financial models, with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
This should include strong formula construction, model structuring, scenario and sensitivity analysis, error checking, data manipulation and clear presentation of outputs.Experience applying financial and commercial analysis to infrastructure, major projects, business cases, transactions, procurement processes or other significant investment decisions.Ability to take ownership of defined workstreams, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work within agreed timeframes and budgets.Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify key financial, project, market and contractual drivers, risks and dependencies.Experience preparing clear, well-structured reports, presentations and client materials for senior and professional audiences.Confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders, gathering and challenging inputs, explaining analysis and contributing constructively to meetings and workshops.Ability to review junior team outputs, provide practical guidance and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team environment.Strong attention to detail, professional scepticism and commitment to maintaining a clear audit trail and high-quality deliverables.
Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, commerce, engineering, property or a related discipline.Postgraduate or professional studies such as CA, CPA or CFA, completed or underway, will be well regarded.
