Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will join the Efficiency team within Product, Data & Engineering to design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and observability tooling behind Collect, InDebted's core platform. This full-time, hybrid role in the Greater Sydney Area (three days per week in office) involves evolving AWS infrastructure through Infrastructure-as-Code, owning and improving CI/CD pipelines for safe and frequent deployment, and reducing friction on the path to production through tooling and guardrails. The engineer will build observability across metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting, diagnose incidents, and drive post-incident learning. A core part of the role is identifying and eliminating manual operational processes, with a strong preference for AI-assisted tooling to reduce toil. The Senior Software Engineer will also contribute to architectural decisions, ship product features as needed, mentor other engineers, and raise operational standards across the engineering organisation through code review and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Hands-on experience using AI tools in day-to-day engineering work.Minimum five years of software engineering experience with a significant DevOps or SRE focus.Strong proficiency with AWS and Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly Terraform.Expertise building CI/CD pipelines and applying modern deployment practices.Solid foundation in observability and production operations, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.Proficiency in Test-Driven Development and a commitment to quality standards.Polyglot programming capability, with the ability to pick up new languages as needed.Strong communication skills, proactive ownership of outcomes, and comfort with public accountability.Ability to maintain consistent in-office presence three days per week in Sydney.Familiarity with Go, Elixir, AWS ECS, BuildKite, or Grafana is beneficial.Experience with Domain-Driven Design, event sourcing, distributed systems, cloud security, compliance, or FinOps is beneficial.
