We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to work at ESTEC’s premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands, where you will be providing engineering support related to the space systems IT infrastructure solutions.
About ESTEC
The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.
Tasks and activities
• The scope of activities may include:
• Operating and maintaining the VMware/HyperV platform: infrastructure monitoring, capacity management, OS/application templates, Cloud Director.
• Administering and supporting infrastructure components: bare metal, routers, switches, Storage and backup systems.
• Supporting the integration of customer applications and services running into Customer's IT network security policy.
• Maintaining and operating classified systems, ensuring compliance with security protocols, operational standards and project documentation.
• Develop and deploy supporting scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) as needed to execute basic operations, such as simple software orchestration or data visualisation.
• In case computer machines are delivered by the project, with pre-installed OS, tools, and application software, ensure their seamless integration into the Client's environment.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in ground segment IT infrastructure engineering.
• Strong expertise in scalable and containerised application platforms.
• Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN network architectures.
• Operational experience with datacentre environments.
• Familiarity with structured operational practices.
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural
environment.
• Solution-oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
