Role Description As a Ruby on Rails Developer at HummingBird, you will design, build, and maintain scalable web applications that power our Responsible AI talent platform.
You will work in a hybrid arrangement based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for some work from home, in a full-time capacity.
Daily responsibilities include implementing and optimizing back-end services in Ruby on Rails, integrating with third-party APIs and ATS/VMS systems, and ensuring application performance, security, and reliability.
You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver intuitive front-end experiences, refine existing features, and support new product capabilities.
The role also involves writing automated tests, reviewing code, participating in agile ceremonies, and contributing to continuous improvement of development practices and architecture.
Qualifications
Strong back-end web development skills, including Ruby on Rails and RESTful API design.Front-end development experience with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks.Proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) and Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture.Practical experience with test-driven development (TDD), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization.Comfort working in agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker) is a plus.Background in HRTech, recruitment platforms, or data-driven products is beneficial but not required.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
