Role Description This is a full-time, remote Ruby on Rails Developer role focused on building and maintaining core features of HummingBird’s talent platform.
The developer will design, develop, and optimize back-end services and APIs using Ruby on Rails, ensuring secure, scalable, and performant applications.
Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new product capabilities, improving existing modules, integrating with third-party systems such as ATS/VMS tools, and collaborating with front-end developers to deliver cohesive user experiences.
The role also involves writing automated tests, reviewing code, troubleshooting production issues, and participating in agile ceremonies with product, design, and data teams to continuously enhance the platform’s reliability and functionality.
Qualifications
Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including building RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.Front-End Development experience working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, and consuming APIs for dynamic user interfaces.Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code.Hands-on experience with Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture, preferably with Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks.Practical knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD), automated testing frameworks, and continuous integration practices.Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), schema design, and query optimization.Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices (e.g., AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines) is beneficial.Comfort working in agile environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and communicating clearly in a remote setting.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.Interest in HRTech or AI-driven products and a commitment to building responsible, user-centric solutions.
