The Project
CPB Contractors is working on a Faster Rail, a large rail and infrastructure project as part of building Queensland’s future.
This project will play an important role ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games while delivering improvements for everyday Queenslanders by providing more frequent and reliable services around Southeast Queensland.
The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGC) Project will double the number of rail tracks and upgrade stations for a section of the Gold Coast Line from Kuraby, a suburb approximately 16km south of Brisbane’s CBD, to Beenleigh, a suburb of Logan City.
Key Elements Of The Project Scope Include
Approximately 20km of new tracks and rail systems between Kuraby and Beenleigh stations, increasing the corridor from two to four tracks, including reconstruction of more than half the existing alignmentStation upgrades to improve accessibility, safety and amenity, including platform straightening, and new pedestrian bridgesDecommissioning of the existing Loganlea Station and tie-in of new track alignment to the new Loganlea station (which will be constructed as part of a separate project)Level crossing removals at Kuraby, Woodridge, Bethania and HolmviewPark 'n' ride upgrades including a new carpark at Beenleigh Station Readiness for a European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 signalling system
The Role
To lead and coordinate all utility protection, relocation and interface works required to support major corridor upgrades, station works and level crossing removals across the rail corridor.
This position ensure utility designs, procurement and construction activities are safely delivered, fully integrated with rail and civil works, and compliant with project standards, budgets and schedules within a complex rail infrastructure environment.
What You’ll Do
Ensure the design of temporary and safe methods of work are in accordance with statutory and industrial requirements in liaison with foreman, subcontractors, the project OHS&E coordinator and the Site ManagerCoordinate identification, protection, relocation and upgrade of utilities impacted by corridor works, such as stations, level crossing removals, and road network modificationsReview design documentation for utilities interfaces across upgraded tracks, station precincts, and modified road networks to ensure best solution is achieved in compliance with project standardsPrepare SOW packages and works with procurement team to award Utilities construction packages.Manage utility-related construction activities in the field, ensuring safe delivery in a complex brownfield rail environmentLiaise with utility asset owners (water, sewer, electrical, comms, gas) to coordinate approvals, access, shutdowns and relocations supporting corridor upgradesProvide coaching and create training opportunities to foster professional growth while ensuring the team remains aligned with project objectivesInteract with, and build strong relationships with site employees to ensure the project is delivered on timeActively liaise with the client to ensure they are kept up to date and their ongoing satisfaction throughout the delivery of the project
What You’ll Need To Succeed
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.Relevant Rail Industry Worker competencies and inductions.Minimum 7 years relevant experience – focused on UtilitiesA demonstrated ability to manage self and others to deliver work to between $10M and $50MDevelopment methodologies and works packs to ensure compliance with scope of works and technical criteria (within discipline)Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 3 months ahead, weekly reporting on progress against plan and cost, reporting on risk and developing and implementing risk treatment plansExceptional background in the development of SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and proceduresStrong experience managing the short- and long-term construction planning for works under control including submittals, start-up planning and programmingProficiency in cost estimation and budget management
