Service Stream is looking for a hands-on Systems Engineer to help maintain and continuously improve our infrastructure, cloud platforms and Microsoft 365 environment. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety. One day you might be hardening servers, remediating vulnerabilities or managing certificates; the next you're troubleshooting cloud services, automating repetitive tasks, or improving the way we manage our environments. You'll be joining a team that values ownership, collaboration and practical problem solving. We need someone who doesn't wait for problems to become incidents, but actively looks for ways to make systems more secure, reliable and efficient. Please note: This is a full-time permanent role based at our Collins Street office, with genuine hybrid flexibility and is only open to Australian Citizens. About the Role As our Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, security and continuous improvement of Service Stream's core technology platforms. Working across Windows and Linux infrastructure, AWS and Azure cloud environments, Microsoft 365 and enterprise networking, you'll help ensure our systems remain secure, patched, available and ready to support the business. This is a true run-and-improve role. You'll focus on operational excellence, automation, security uplift and keeping the lights on, while continually finding smarter ways to do things. You'll work closely with application teams, service providers and technology stakeholders across the business to maintain a reliable and modern technology environment. What You'll Do Keep our Windows Server and Linux environments secure, patched and performing at their bestAdminister and optimise AWS and Azure services across compute, storage, networking and identityDrive patching and vulnerability remediation activities to improve security posture and complianceManage the full SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle to ensure services remain available and protectedAdminister Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and IntuneSupport enterprise networking technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS and load balancingManage software licence renewals and vendor relationships to minimise risk and unnecessary spendMonitor infrastructure and cloud environments, respond to incidents and perform root cause analysisAutomate repetitive tasks using PowerShell, Python and infrastructure-as-code approachesSupport backup, recovery and resilience processes to ensure business continuityMaintain clear documentation, standards and operational runbooksParticipate in after-hours support and maintenance activities when required What You'll Bring Must be an Australian CitizenAround 3+ years' experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering within a medium to large enterprise environmentStrong Windows Server administration experience, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCPPractical Linux administration skills and troubleshooting experienceExperience supporting AWS services such as EC2, IAM, VPC and S3Microsoft 365 administration experience across user, device and licence managementExposure to vulnerability management, security hardening and patching practicesUnderstanding of enterprise networking concepts and technologiesExperience working with vendors, support providers and software licensingAutomation and scripting capability using PowerShell and/or PythonStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindsetClear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experienceAWS Solutions Architect Associate or AWS SysOps Administrator certificationMicrosoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-500Microsoft 365 certifications including MS-102 or MD-102Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking certificationSecurity certifications such as Security+ or SC-200ITIL Foundation or experience working within structured change and incident management frameworks About Us Service Stream is an equal opportunity ASX-listed organisation that develops and operates Australia's essential service networks across telecommunications, utilities, transport, defence and social infrastructure.
