Description
Full Stack Shopify Developer – Shopify / TypeScript / Node.js
Remote | 37.5 hours | Saturday & Sunday + 3 flexible weekdays
Want to work on Shopify without spending your week making tiny theme changes?
Acquire is exclusively partnering with a fast-growing D2C subscription brand in the pet space that is investing heavily in its ecommerce technology.
They're building more of their technology in-house, moving away from legacy platforms and external agencies, and creating a modern ecommerce ecosystem designed to support multiple brands and markets across Europe.
As part of that growth, we're looking for a Full Stack Shopify Developer to join the team.
This isn't a Shopify role where you'll spend all day tweaking templates.
You'll work across the platform – building new functionality, integrating APIs, working with Shopify Functions and supporting a wider modern JavaScript stack.
What will you be doing?
You'll join a growing engineering team and work across both Shopify development and ongoing ecommerce support.
There's already plenty to get stuck into.
You'll help work through an existing development backlog, build new features and services, and support larger projects as the business continues to modernise its ecommerce platforms.
You'll also get exposure to projects around personalisation, A/B testing, product-finding experiences and AI-powered search, alongside larger platform and migration work.
The role leans towards the front end, but you'll need to be comfortable going beyond it.
Shopify APIs, Functions, discounts and integrations mean you'll regularly work with Node.js and backend logic too.
The weekend bit
There's one important difference with this role.
Ecommerce doesn't stop at 5pm on Friday, so Saturday and Sunday will be two of your five working days each week.
You're not working seven days and this isn't an additional on-call rota.
You'll work a normal 37.5-hour, five-day week, with Saturday and Sunday as working days and two days off during the week.
There's flexibility around which weekdays you work.
That means we're looking for someone comfortable being trusted to handle Shopify issues independently at the weekend.
If something genuinely major happens, you'll have support from the wider team – but for normal incidents, you should be confident investigating the problem and getting it sorted.
What are we looking for?
The biggest thing is genuine Shopify development experience.
You'll ideally have 3+ years of commercial Shopify experience and be comfortable working beyond basic theme customisation.
You'll likely have experience with:
Shopify themes, APIs and FunctionsJavaScript and TypeScriptNode.jsModern CSS and responsive developmentBuilding and integrating APIsWeb performance optimisationHeadless ecommerce / MACH architecture
Experience with Contentful, Commercetools, microservices, platform migrations or behavioural data tracking would be a great addition, but you don't need to tick every box.
More importantly, you're someone who can be given a problem, investigate it and get on with solving it without needing someone looking over your shoulder.
What's in it for you?
You'll be joining at an interesting point in the journey.
The team is growing quickly, ecommerce technology is being brought in-house, and there's a multi-year roadmap of migrations and new digital products ahead.
If you're a Shopify Developer who wants more ownership, broader technical work and the chance to help shape a growing ecommerce platform, we'd love to speak with you.
