Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Software Engineer role based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain backend services and automation-related software that integrate with the company’s Manufacturing Language Model and robotic systems.
Responsibilities include writing clean, scalable code, implementing and testing APIs, optimizing performance, and collaborating closely with product, robotics, and operations teams.
The role also involves troubleshooting production issues, participating in code reviews, and contributing to architectural decisions that enhance reliability and security.
Team members are expected to document their work clearly and support continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, or Go).Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs, working with databases, and integrating services.Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and designing modular, maintainable systems.Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), and CI/CD practices is beneficial.Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and solve complex technical problems.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in robotics, manufacturing, or industrial automation is a plus but not required.
