Mid to Senior | Sydney (Preference), Melbourne or Brisbane (Hybrid) | Permanent
We're partnering with a Sydney based boutique software vendor helping organisations in heavily regulated industries with their AML, anti-fraud and real time payments capabilities, including tier one banking, financial services and government clients.
They're looking for a Mid to Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team, working closely with the DevOps Lead to support, scale and automate their high security, single tenant, on premise OpenStack private cloud.
What you'll be doing
Maintain, troubleshoot and scale the core on premise OpenStack private cloud environment, including compute, storage backends and hypervisorsOwn and automate the data streaming and messaging infrastructure, containerising and maintaining high availability Kafka / messaging queue clustersDrive automated infrastructure provisioning through Terraform and AnsibleDesign and optimise CI/CD and GitOps pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD)Enforce least privilege access governance, manage identity federation (IAM, Vault), and implement automated vulnerability scanningBuild and monitor telemetry, metrics and alerting frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) to ensure platform reliability and zero SLA breaches
What you'll bring (non negotiable)
Solid, hands on experience provisioning and operating within OpenStackStrong familiarity with Linux virtualisation (KVM, VMware ESXi)Direct exposure to event driven architectures, event streaming or messaging queues, Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar pub/sub systems
Also valuable
Strong IaC experience via Terraform and AnsiblePipeline and GitOps experience (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD)Scripting in Python, Bash or GoEnterprise Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu)Experience in heavily regulated environments (Banking/FinTech, Government, Defence) or alignment with CIS Benchmarks/ISO 27001
