At Nebula Elec, we deliver critical high-voltage infrastructure across data centres, switchyards, substations and complex energy projects throughout NSW. Our teams work in environments where detail matters, decisions carry weight and commissioning has to be right the first time. We are looking for a Testing & Commissioning Engineer or Electrician who can take ownership in the field. If you can work confidently from diagrams, set up a CMC 500 and hold your own with a network operator during live commissioning, you will understand the level we are after. We are open to appointing at Engineer or Technician level. What matters is the depth of your protection knowledge, the standard of your field work and how you communicate when a job is live. The work You will move across active high-voltage projects rather than sit in a narrow test-and-tick role. The core is site-based testing and commissioning, with room to take on protection design and settings work as your capability and the business grow. Plan and carry out HV primary injection and functional testing on switchgear, transformers and cables across 11 kV-132 kV systems using OMICRON CPC equipment and associated test accessories.Test, commission and maintain protection systems including overcurrent, earth fault, differential, distance and auto-reclose schemes using OMICRON CMC platforms.Prove secondary circuits, trip and alarm paths, interlocks, CT/VT polarity and protection logic as part of complete commissioning scopes.Investigate faults, work through root causes and contribute to protection coordination studies.Prepare and review test plans, ITPs, ITC check sheets and commissioning reports that are clear enough for the next person to follow.Work directly with clients and network operators through witness testing, outages, energisation and live commissioning activities.Contribute to protection design and settings calculations where your experience supports it, with scope to take on more as the function grows. What you will need NSW Electrical License and relevant Engineering Degree qualification and the willingness to obtain all required local licenses prior to starting work.Demonstrated hands-on experience with HV primary and protection testing.Confidence using OMICRON CPC and CMC equipment, Test Universe and associated testing workflows.A sound understanding of protection relay principles and power-system fundamentals.The ability to interpret protection diagrams, schematics and relay settings files.Clear communication, disciplined documentation and the judgement to speak up when something is not right.A current driver's license or willing to obtain, and willingness to travel to project sites across NSW. Desirable Australian network-operator experience.Protection design and settings experience using tools such as ETAP or Power DB.IEC 61850, digital substation, BESS or renewable-energy commissioning experience.Familiarity ITP/ITC documentation workflows.A NSW electrical contractor license, White Card, HV Switching, Working at Heights, CPR or First Aid qualifications.
