What You'll Do Viasat is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer for our Security Engineering team to help drive our security cloud engineering-focused, cross technical domain vision in our Global Infrastructure & Security organization. The team’s mission is to enable secure innovative, cloud-focused solutions to Viasat customers, partners, engineers, and employees. The day-to-day Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCPProvide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standardsDrive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizationsPartner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycleWork alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices What You'll Need US Citizenship required5+ years of practical security experience5+ years of engineering or software development experienceBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experienceStrong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutionsSolid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, identity and access management, network segmentation, and threat modelingAbility to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and be comfortable with technical details Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform What Will Help You On The Job Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentalsCloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls)Experience programming in Python or another object-oriented languageExperience testing software and integrating security into automated pipelinesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and knowledge of GitHub coding best- practicesMid- to senior-level development experienceStrong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey security risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiencesCandidate should have an interest in researching cutting edge technology and security researchExperience with AWS security tooling: Security Hub, GuardDuty, InspectorFamiliarity with Responsible AI usage concepts and secure AI/ML deploymentExperience with GCP security tooling: Security Command Center Enterprise, Google SecOps, VPC Service Control Perimeters Salary range $140,500.00 - $221,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $174,000.00- $261,000.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
